Tour destination

Provence

Provence, historical and cultural region encompassing the southeastern French departments of Bouches-du-Rhône, Vaucluse, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, and Var. It is roughly coextensive with the former province of Provence and with the present-day region with Mont-Ventoux, the Dentelles de Montmirail, the Gorges de la Nesque and Sault lavender, the Provence region is overflowing with beautiful countryside! Soak up the fresh air of Provence from high up in the mountains.

  • Weather

Average temperatures range from 10° (December) to 31° (July). The rainy months are: November, October and September. We recommend the months of April, May, June, July, August, September and October to visit Mont Ventoux.

  • Terrain

The Giant of Provence, the Bald Mountain, the Lonely Mountain. Whatever you choose to call it, it towers above the Provençal countryside and is one of the world’s most iconic rides. It’s a big part of Tour de France history and the elevation always goes up.

  • Culture

Marked by an ancient rural civilisation, the Mont Ventoux Biosphere Reserve provides a vast historic, religious, architectural, artistic and linguistic heritage. The archaeological heritage is rich and diverse with bones, flint and polished stone tools and utensils and pottery from Gallo-Roman times.
