Tuscany Classic Cycling Camp in Chianti

Rendezvous with the organisation team at 9 am at Chiavenna Town Hall. On request, we can book the previous night’s accommodation for you in Chiavenna. We can also organise a transfer from Milan or Turin airport before the trip.

 

Highlights:

• The long climb up the Splügen Pass: 1,800 m of vertical gain. You’ll be rewarded with the pretty Montespluga lake, surrounded by pastures and dominated by mineral summits
• The San Bernardino pass with its small lakes and glacial ridges, before reaching the magnificent mountain lake of Moesola, surrounded by 3,000 m peaks

 

Passes of the day:

• Passo dello Spluga (2,113 m)
• Passo del San Bernardino (2,065 m)

The grandiose alpine environment of Val Lucomagno is protected due to its extraordinary geological formations and botanical heritage. This valley is nicknamed “the sun valley” because of its orientation and microclimate. There are another two challenging climbs on the agenda for day 2, so make sure you have rested and have your energy gels at the ready!

 

Highlights:

• Maria lake at the top of the Lukmanier Pass (Passo del Lucomagno)
• An imposing cloister village of Disentis in the Romansh Surselva, founded in the 8th century. It contains no less than 14 churches and chapels!

 

Passes of the day:

• Passo del Lucomagno (1,916 m)
• Oberalp Pass (2,040 m)

Today we will stay in Andermatt and soak up some of the incredible mountain landscapes and passes in the area. The climbs planned for day 3 are challenging but the jaw-dropping views compensate for every ounce of energy invested in reaching the top. 

 

Highlights:

• A series of three superb passes in grandiose alpine scenery, among them the legendary Gotthard and Furka passes (the Rhône river takes its source here). Simply unforgettable.

 

Passes of the day:

• Passo de San Gotardo (2,108 m)
• Passo della Novena (2,478 m)
• Furkapass (2,431 m)

The giant glaciers and staggering summits will make you feel small on this epic day of the tour, with breathtaking views of the snow-capped Jungfrau massif and the north face of the Eiger. If you’ve packed your camera, this is the day you’ll, especially, want to have it handy. 

 

Highlights:

• Glaciers and peaks as far as the eye can see from the Sustenpass.
• Grosse Scheidegg climb
• Beautiful Lake Thun shores. The mountains seem to surge right out of the water.

 

Passes of the day:

• Sustenpass (2,224 m)
• Grosse Scheidegg (1,962 m)

The penultimate day of our tour features just one climb and spectacular scenery that will leave you wishing you had another week to spend amidst this incredible landscape. Soak up the essence of the Swiss Alps as we ride past Swiss chalets, pastures, mountains and forests.

 

Highlights:

• Cross the Swiss Pre-Alps with summits between 2,000 and 2,400 m
• Cross the Pays de gruyère, a land of tradition with picture-postcard views
• The typical village of Gruyère gave its name to the very famous cheese.

 

Passes of the day:

Col du Jaun (1,509 m)

 

Our final day of the trip ends in Thonon-les-Bains in the afternoon after a full day of riding. We can help book an additional night’s accommodation and/or transfers to Geneva airport or train station upon special request.

 

Highlights:

• Hongrin lake and the Diablerets mountain range
• Countless hairpin bends in the Rhone valley
• Picturesque views of Val d’Abondance in France
• The Col du Corbier, the last pass of this magnificent crossing
