Tour overview

DISCOVER A DIFFERENT SIDE OF ITALY

This exclusive tour through Italy’s Piedmont region is a spectacular opportunity to discover the beautiful roads, landscape and culture between Langhe and the Ligurian Sea. You’ll ride through vineyards that produce world-famous wines such as Barolo, Diano d’Alba and Dolcetto d’Alba (named after villages in the area), and get to sample some delicious cuisine such as local cheese, black and white truffles and of course, some wonderful pasta recipes.

The peaceful country roads wind through and over the stunning Mediterranean landscape, featuring rolling hills and kilometres of untouched nature. As we get closer to the Ligurian Sea, you’ll have the chance to ride along one of the roads included in the Milano-Sanremo bike race. Whilst many of the routes will lead you across rolling hills, there will also be a couple of opportunities to ascend some spectacular climbs, and enjoy the views of fields of flowers from the top, one of the areas most important exports.

This Piedmont’s Vineyards and Ligurian Sea Bike Tour is designed for small groups. You will be accompanied by a support vehicle throughout the week and stay in luxury accommodation each night that has been selected specifically by our team. They are on hand to make sure this trip meets all your expectations and more, giving you the best experience possible in Piedmont.

Highlights of your cycling trip

Traditional spanish tapas selection

Incredible Cuisine

Sample some of the most delicious Italian cuisine, which, if it’s possible, will taste even better after a long day in the saddle. Many of our routes also take us through world-famous wine regions where we’ll get the chance to taste some of Italy’s best wines.

Luxurious Stays

Each night you’ll sleep in a different luxurious, top-quality hotel along the route, offering a very pleasant stay after each full day of riding. The hotels are chosen specifically based on their location in charming coastal villages as well as their proximity to the start and end of each route, so you can focus on some well-deserved R&R.

Long straight road - Puglia, Italy

Incredible Landscapes

Italy is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, from soaring mountain peaks to vast green vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see, as well as stunning coastlines that invite you to sit back, relax and soak up the sunshine.

Tour destination

PIEDMONT - ITALY

The Piedmont region of Italy borders France and Switzerland, and therefore sits right at the edge of the mighty Alps (as its name suggests). Like the rest of Italy, the Piedmont region is home to some exquisite cuisine and is well known for its world-class wines, such as Barolo. There is also a fascinating array of architectural styles throughout the region. Given the harsher climates in the north of the country, compared to Florence or Rome, the buildings are often built with strong brick. But in Turin you can find a mix of styles, including Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassicism.

  • Weather

The Italian side of the Alps is widely known as 'the sunny side' and temperatures can get very high in the summer months (except for when you’re at high altitudes). Spring and autumn can sometimes be unpredictable, whilst the winter months can get cold, but tend to be generally quite sunny with little rainfall.

  • Terrain

Whatever style of riding you are looking for, you will find it here. The proximity of the Alps offers some incredible climbs, such as the the giants of Stelvio and Mortirolo. Whilst the undulating inland landscape offers the perfect terrain for more laid-back riding, perfect for a recovery ride after a day in the mountains.

  • Culture

The culture in Northern Italy is much like the rest of the country, albeit with a distinct Alpine influence. Outdoor sports such as hiking, skiing and snowboarding are very popular in this area given the vast area (almost 50% of the region) dominated by the Alps. It is also famous for its cuisine and magnificent wines and is increasingly becoming a haven for foodies from around the world. This is one of the lesser visited regions of Italy, a shame given its spectacular landscapes and warm and friendly locals.

Accommodation during your tour

Luxury Accommodation

Each night you’ll stay in a wonderful hotel or guesthouse where you’ll be able to fully relax and rest your legs ready for your next day of riding. This luxury accommodation has been carefully selected to offer you the most comfortable stay possible.

The tour includes breakfasts and dinners at some of the best restaurants in the area. Sample local cuisine and wines from nearby vineyards, which, if possible, will taste even better after a full day of riding.

Breakfast and Dinner

Each day of the tour will start with a big breakfast before a full day of cycling, as well as a fantastic dinner in the evening to refuel. We’ll enjoy fresh ingredients from the local area, as well as plenty of Italian coffee. Pack some extra energy bars and gels if you tend to use them to give yourself a boost mid ride, although we will also be stopping off on our way to sample the local gelato.

Your guide to a perfect cycling tour

The vineyard loop
  • Distance
    70 km

We will start Day 2 with a hearty breakfast to fuel up for our first day of riding. Our first route for the Piedmont bike tour takes us south through the beautiful undulating landscapes of the Barolo wine region, covered in vineyards and dotted with ancient villages. It’s the perfect introduction to the area and to your cycling holiday, with gentle ups and downs but no major climbs.

We will stop for a coffee and ice cream in one of the age-old enchanting towns along our route, such as Cerretto Langhe, Monforte d’Alba, Barolo or Diano d’Alba. Once back at the hotel, you will have some time to relax before enjoying a fantastic dinner and tasting organic wines from local producers.
