You are a star

This climb is famed by Tour de France and La Vuelta who featured Col d'Ordino many times over the years. If you are going there during the season you are likely to run into a couple of pros training up this mountain.

Views are totally great

Going up from Ordino, you will climb and see the entire valley beneath you. Around the middle you can stop on the mirador and take a breath, just gazing far and down. Mesmerising.

Ordino

The start of the climb (and finish of your ride if you are going down the same route) is the town of Ordino. Extremely neat as everything in Andorra is, it's a cosy little place where you can sunbathe on a terrace with your espresso.

Gradient analysis

Distance

This is a road that takes us from Ordino to Canillo but unlike the main road, this road takes us through the wiggly waggly mountain road with a viewing point Roc de Quer and there are trails starting on this mountainous road. The climb is 10km long with average gradient of 6.7% – and there is no caveat here, you won’t see any sections much steeper than that. It’s gentle climb on a superb road surface and without any traffic. Pure enjoyment.

Points of Interest

Town of Ordino. You might want to stop by Ordino, a nice little town in the foot of the mountain, very typically Andorran – clean and quite – it can be perfect to sunbath with an espresso, or something more substantial if you decide to go down the same route.

Mirador Roc del Quer. This a nice view point about in the middle of the climb and a good spot to get a breath if you need to. There are couple of benches and you’ll find a great view over Ordino and the valley.

At about 7km up from Ordino there is a water fountain. Take precaution and see the signs about the water quality but as general rule, most such fountains have good drinkable water.

Road and traffic

This road is not as a main road to connect the villages of Ordino and Canillo, so you can expect only some lesure car traffic here, expect some pro team cars here sometimes!

Andorra is a place where it gets cold during the winter, so the pass will be closed from approximately November to April. Check the road signs.

Road surface is superb as it is the case in all of Andorra.
