SEE FOR YOURSELF
Costa Brava - Catalonia
Stretching north from Barcelona to the Spanish–French border, the Costa Brava ('rugged coast') is undoubtedly the most beautiful of Spain's three main holiday coasts. The level of satisfaction you can get here as a cyclists is unparalleled. Both the beauty and the quality of the ride is top notch. There are few stretches of the costal roads that definitely goes to woulds top lists. And still you can get away from the cars and crowds. Costa Brava also manages to keep the vibe of small fisherman's villages with some seriously good restaurants.
Costa Brava offers lots of Spanish sun. With that, being up North of the peninsula, you'll get fresher rides during spring and autumn months as you can feel the proximity of the Pyrenees. Make sure you grab your gilet for some wind and rain protection for those unlucky days. And bring sun cream for the rest.
Costa Brava meaning 'wild' in Spanish, tells a lot already. It's a highly rocky and mountainous terrain which offers some high quality riding of all sorts. You will be able to see here some decent mountain passes and climbs but same time you'll find some pack riding on the windy flats. Flats are scarce though!
Boasting relatively unspoiled version of Catalan culture, this area has its own distinctive features that include small fisherman's villages and some seriously good food such as famous anchovies. There are some total gems to visit like Cadaqués, the birth place of Salvador Dalí.

There's even more to discover on your trip.
Rocacorba has a history every cyclist should become a part of. Used for over a decade by many local pros as a testing climb, the famous mountain is a challenge to anyone and everyone. The 10.7 kilometre climb has a deceptive overall gradient of 7%. Starting teasingly gentle before levelling off and demanding your easiest gear on sections up to 11%, disciplined pacing will pay off for the last half of the climb that averages 9%. However, the quiet tree-lined road offers just enough respite to remain achievable for the determined weekend warrior. Keep your eyes peeled toward the top for the faded “Look Right” painted on the road to see spanning Pyrenean peaks through an opening in the trees.More
Alt de la Musara is a picturesque cycling climb situated in the Tarragona province of Catalonia. It has been used in the Volta a Catalunya professional race, most recently in 2017 when the riders descended this side. The climb on the Vilaplana side is characterized by a high number of hairpin bends, as it winds its way through forest towards the Prades Mountains. Very ocasionally the trees open out to offer some nice views looking back down the climb. Alt de la Musara is nominally open year round, with only very rare closures due to snow in winter.More
