RUNNING FROM THE WINTER? COSTA DAURADA'S, ALMOST ENDLESS SUNSHINE, MIGHT BE WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR
There’s a reason pro cycling teams train on the Costa Daurada and the whispers of “Costa Daurada” and “cycling paradise” are becoming more audible in the pro peloton.
A network of finely crafted Spanish roads opens up as soon as you turn your handlebars inland and head away from the busy coastline. The rolling countryside, long climbs of the Prades mountains, almond and olive groves covered hillsides, the Priorat vineyards, Montsant National Park, 12th Century monasteries, and dramatic, deserted villages will leave you speechless.
Did we mention the weather? Costa Daurada is located south of the Costa Brava, and has a fantastic climate that allows for cycling in shorts for all but a few months of the year. Reports of 330 days of sunshine per year are music to the ears of those battling the winter in Northern Europe and looking for a winter cycling tour or training camp destination.
